Meeting was held Feb.23, 2011 at Denny's on Broadway at Birch. There were 10 attendees. Raymond Chow presented a drawing of a consideration for a plaque/monument...profile of students (1girl 1boy) made of re-bar (rather than bronze statues) holding book...companioned with plaque showing King Ed history. Well done, now we need a few more suggestions. There were 3 sub committees formed...1/ 7 persons to check with authorities (hopital, City,school board,etc) to obtain approval and assistance. 2/ 5 persons to obtain ideas, develop drawings of plaque/monument to present to authorities. 3/ 2 persons to arrange social events for the committee. UPDATE...IMPORTANT...only yesterday we were advd by Nick Milkovich (a KEHS
grad and an architect) that there is an opportunity to apply for a commemorative plaque marking Vancouver's 125th Anniversary..deadline is today...we will submit it and then it will be voted on (against many interesting offerings) starting tomorrow until April 5 "11....so pls go to www.vancouverheritagefoundation.org/projects/placesthatmatter.html There will be 125 plaques designed, created and placed by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation so pls VOTE...ask your friends, enemies, family, co -workers to go to site and place a vote so that we can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
